What we do

Religious Education in our schools
Catholic schools offer young people the means to acquire the knowledge they need in order to find a place in society. At the same time they look to impart a solid Christian formation.
The Religious Education Bridging Document (REBD) is designed to be a reflective and practical support for teachers in teaching effectively the mandated NZ Religious Education Curriculum. In response to Laudato Si' and the digital climate this important document is only available in digital format. The contents page and footer are clickable for moving around. Click here for the document.
 Parish-based programmes
Faith-learning at parish level is focused on preparing people to receive the sacraments, for example the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, Baptism or Confirmation. NCRS produces two programmes to support parish catechists in the catechesis of school age children who do not attend Catholic schools.
Early-childhood RE
The aim of Religious Education for pre-school children is to lead them toward a loving, personal relationship with God. NCRS provides a number of resources to support familiy/whanau, parishes and early childhood services.
Adult faith education
NCRS endorses courses designed to increase understanding and encourage a mature faith including our own programme Walk by Faith. Walk by Faith is not an NZQA accredited programme.  NCRS promotes courses, diplomas and degrees available through tertiary institutions in New Zealand.  As a member of The Catholic Institute, we strongly recommend the NZQA Certificates and Diplomas offered by TCI.
